Conversion of Courthouse to Office Space

This courthouse and county administration building was originally built in 1963 and is listed on the City of Kitchener's municipal heritage register. This renovation brought it up to 21st century standards by replacing original mechanical systems and removing asbestos. The design of the renovation involved efforts to conserve the architectural and historic features of the building. A pair of two-storey courtrooms were converted into usable office space and one courtroom.

The energy efficient/sustainable construction renovation included energy conserving mechanical and electrical equipment, fixtures and controls and included reduction, sorting, and monitoring of construction waste and site impact. As a result it achieved LEED Gold Certification.
