A Modernized Long Term Care Facility
Construction is underway at Avalon Care Centre, a Dufferin County long-term
care home, as part of the Ontario government’s $6.4 billion commitement to
expand care facilities. This initiative will result in a modernized 160-bed facility adjacent to the existing home, providing 23 new and 137 upgraded beds in private and basic rooms. The redesigned facility will feature improved amenities, including larger common areas and air conditioning throught, with a focus on creating intimate living spaces for residents. The revamped Avalon Care Centre is set to welcome it’s first residents by spring 2026, contributing to the governments comprehensive plan to enhance long -term care , emcompassing
staffing, quality, modernization, and improved accecss to services for senior s in Ontario.
