Phase 2 of an Ambitious Expansion Strategy

This project saw the old labs and offices in the Thornbrough Building refurbished including a major wet lab renovation in the core of the building. A small single-stoery addition was added along with a canopy on the west side adjacent to Winegard Walk. Careful coordination on this tight site was required to accommodate pedestrians and bus access and to respect the occupants in other areas of the building.

The Richards Building was completely gutted and equipped with dry labs, office space, and a 200 seat lecture hall. Four storeys of extensive asbestos removal was required. This project achieved Silver Certification by the LEED® Canada Green Building Rating System.
