Creating 48 New Affordable Homes for Seniors
82 Wilson is part of Waterloo Region Housing’s master plan to strengthen an
grow communities. The WRH strategy involved evaluating all 65 WRH sites to
determine which have the most potential for redevelopment based on site
assessments. This new affordable housing project planned for the City of
Kitchener will help reduce the wait list of people who need housing in this
neighbourhood and it will provide an opportunity to expand services for existing
and new tenants. The site is close to transit and many community amenities.
82 Wilson is in creating 48 new affordable homes for seniors, amenity spaces, a
commercial kitchen servery, 203m² of oce space including a boardroom
/oces / councilors rooms / kitchenette / administrative space. 98 surface
parking spaces.
The LEED portion of the project includes a two-storey addition and a new entrance canopy on the administration building. A rainwater harvesting and control structure will be implemented and will serve as a model for water conservation and sustainable storm water management and reduce storm water discharges which is reused back in the vehicle wash bay.
