House of Friendship Supportive Housing

Kitchener, Ontario

Supportive Housing & Community Hub

The Friendship Village development on Charles Street in downtown Kitchener is a two-phased construction project designed to address the critical need for supportive and affordable housing. The first phase of the project involves the construction of 100 supportive housing units, while the second phase will add 70 affordable housing apartments, creating a total of 170 new homes.

This project showcases the efficient use of the existing property, replacing older structures with a modern, purpose-built community hub that serves both housing and administrative needs. The building design includes onsite support spaces for healthcare, recreational areas, communal meeting areas, and a dedicated outdoor courtyard, ensuring a continuum of care for residents as their needs evolve. In addition, House of Friendship’s administrative offices will be housed within the new structure.

Construction is slated to begin later this year, with an emphasis on sustainability and community integration, ensuring that the development not only provides essential housing but also enhances the quality of life for its residents and the broader community.
