Passive House Affordable Housing

We partnered with CityHousing Hamilton, Edge Architects Ltd., and RDH Building Science to construct a 6-storey 31,000 sq ft multi-unit residential building designed to provide affordable housing to the community and to meet Passive House Certification.
Thoughtfully designed using energy-efficient modular construction, the 42-unit building features timber framing and cross-laminated timber (CLT) floor, roof, and wall panels. CLT substitutes typical building materials such as concrete, masonry, and steel for one combined modular panel. This allows for a more cost-efficient and resilient system. The exterior of the building consists primarily of composite panels with triple glazed punch-style windows.
