Kiwanis Pool

Kitchener, Ontario

As a favourite destination for hundreds of local families every day in the summer, Kiwanis Park pool saw a great deal of wear and tear. When the 2017 season came around, it was obvious that the old pool basin was too great a repair. It was time for a renovation. The new pool maintains the beach-like slope to the centre that the original featured, stretching 106m long and 53m wide with a shoal feature in the centre for easy lifeguard access.

This project was tricky due to the time of year, proximity to the Grand River, ground water level, and even older, unexpected, pools hidden underground that had to be dug out. But despite these challenges, the project was completed on time, before the ground froze for the winter.

Overall infrastructure of the pool is now up to today’s standards and the pool is ready to welcome the 40,000 expected visitors for the 2018 season.
