Specialized Care Home for People with Dementia

The Highview Residences Project is the 2nd Phase of a purpose-built, privately owned and managed dementia care facility.

This one storey residence was built specifically to provide a secure and soothing environment for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. The space is"home like" in design while maintaining the premium level of care expected from a new facility.

The design was focused on the residents and the goal was to cut down on those things that can be stressful for people with dementia, such as loud noises, lots of people and strict schedules for eating and personal care. All rooms are private with a private bathroom.

There are 28 resident suites divided into 2 "cottages" with a living room, kitchen, family room, screened in porches and a secure garden for each cottage that the residents can enjoy independently.

What our clients have to say...

"In June of 2018, our company entered into an agreement with Melloul-Blamey to build a Residence for those living with severe memory loss in Kitchener. On October 24, 2019, we will celebrate the Grand Opening of this Residence. This is the fourth Residence that we have built and the first one we have built using Melloul-Blamey as our Construction Manager. The decision to partner with Melloul-Blamey on this Project has been a good one. Assistance in preparing a realistic budget at he beginning of the Project was very helpful. The quality of this service was what we had been looking for during our first three builds. The Project Manager assigned was totally invested in our Project. He was through, understanding of our needs and acted in our best interests with the different trades. The paperwork that he provided was accurate and complete. When a Change Order was necessary, he would always email or telephone me with the rationale behind the suggested change along with available options. Where possible, this information was provided in a timely manner which allowed alternative solutions to be investigated. The Construction Superintendent was 100% invested in the successful completion of the Project . His knowledge of the blueprints led to several recommendations for changes that were for the betterment of the building. As time passed even his vocabulary changed to reflect the people who would live in the building that he was constructing. His attention to detail ensured that the building would be well built to suit the needs of our future Resident s. The hours of work were not an issue. He spent many after hours and weekends on site monitoring and directing the work that had to be done. As in any Project there will be moments for difficult decisions. At no time during the building process did I feel that the Project Manager and the Construction Superintendent did not have the full support of the senior leadership within Melloul -Bla mey. They always seemed to be aware of the stage of the Project and would offer advice that reflected the needs of the Project. Based on our experience during these past 17 months, we would have no trouble recommending MelloulĀ Blamey to be the Construction Manager of choice to any other organization looking for a partner to help them through a building project.
