Victoria Road Recreation Centre

Guelph, Ontario

Renovation and Expansion of Recreation Centre

First constructed in 1974, the Victoria Road Recreation Centre has provided the citizens of Guelph with access to a wide range of activities and recreational space for over 40 years. Families, children and seniors gathered daily for sports, exercise and community building. But after so many years of extensive use, it was time for a makeover.

In just 15 months, the Recreation Centre was rejuvenated with renovations to the offices, multi-purpose rooms, change rooms, arena, swimming pool, and more. As well, lighting and mechanical systems throughout were upgraded to energy efficient systems, reflecting the best of modern technology.

Moreover, the additions to this facility included a new main entrance, lobby, exterior courtyard, conference rooms, and barrier free access, including ramps, lifts, tactile indicators, visual aids and elevators to comply with new legislations (AODA). Because of this, disabled patrons and movement impaired members of the community may now access the facilities and enjoy an improved experience.
